Welcome to Our Church
Thanks for visiting and welcome to the ministry of the Webster Memorial United Church,
a member congregation of the United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands.
As you interact with us online, through our worship services, and our ministries, we hope that you will meet the Most High God in personal and life changing ways. May you be blessed by our offerings to God, drawn closer to him and to us the Webster Family, and may He grant you peace, joy, hope and the abundant life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
One Big Family
The first Pastor, the late Rev. J.A. T Beattie, led the first official congregation on May 5, 1941, at the home of Margaret Stuart at 51, Half Way Tree Road.
Margaret's home, then called "Iona House" was where the first Church services were held, until lack of space, called for re-location to open air worship under a large "Guango tree" or a "Lignum Vitae".
Sunday, May 11, 1941, when the congregation met for its first Communion is considered as the official start of our Church.
